10 Weeks Left – Get Healthy

The first thing to do is to get in shape and make sure you don’t have any health problems that need to be addressed. We have a long 4 years ahead, and the better your health and physical condition, the better off you and all of us will be. Go to your doctor and get a complete checkup. While you’re there, discuss ways you can improve your health. Depending on what you find out at your doctor’s appointment, come up with a plan to optimize your health. If you’re in pretty good shape and just need some fine tuning, the plan outlined in Eight Weeks to Optimum Health would be a good starting point. If you are over weight or have heart disease, Eat More, Weigh Less or Dr. Dean Ornish’s Program for Reversing Heart Disease might be better for you. If you have either of these conditions, you should follow the guidance of your doctor.

In case you’re wondering what this has to do with politics, there are several practical considerations. First, if Obama and his allies in Congress succeed in nationalizing health care, it will most likely be rationed, just like it is in every single other country that practices socialized medicine. Second, improving your health will improve your energy level. We have a lot of hard work to do over the next 4 years, and it will take a lot of energy to do what needs to be done. Finally, a healthy body leads to a healthy mind. We need to keep our minds sharp. We don’t rely on lies, distortions, and an advocacy press like our adversaries on the Left. Our thoughts and words need to be accurate and clear. Anything less is a recipe for defeat.

Make improving your health a personal goal for the next 10 weeks. See your doctor and check out one of the books I’ve mentioned. If you can’t find them at your local library, you can get them from Amazon. If you already own one of these titles, consider loaning it to a friend. Develop a personal diet and exercise plan. No matter what happens over the next 4 years, your health is your most important asset. Protect that asset.

Cheers,

Ken
