Doesn’t Look so Blue to Me…

I keep hearing about how this election has shifted our country from center-right to center-left. Some of the radical Left wingers are even saying the election results show that the majority of Americans buy into their “Progressive” (What they really mean is regressive) agenda for the country.
However, looking at a map that breaks down the election results by county, you can clearly see that large areas of the country voted for McCain even in states that overall went for Obama.
Nevada for example. This is a state that 2 Republican “geniuses” have declared the Republican party to be “too extreme” to ever succeed in again. Looking at the map though, the entire state is solid red except Carson (BHO by 0.3%), Clark (BHO by 18.9%), and Washoe (BHO by 12.6%). Carson County was about a tie. Clark and Washoe went for Obama, lots of Californians moving into these areas over the last few years. However, McCain easily took the rest of the state, in some counties by margins of over 40%. Is this indicative of a state that has shifted to “center-left?” I don’t believe it does.
Of course, Nevada is a conservative state. What’s even more telling about the direction this country is allegedly heading is the election map of California, a reliable Blue state. Even in California, there are pockets of Conservative resistance. This gives me hope, as I was born and raised in California. I’d like to live there again some day if they would get rid of their firearms ban.
I’m done mourning the results of this election. The country hasn’t suddenly turned into a Socialist state, though I have no doubt that is what President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, etc. have planned for us. They will over reach though, waking up voters who will then vote these bums out of office. However, voters can only make good choices when presented with facts. We need to do as much as we can to spread the facts about candidates and their positions on issues. If we don’t, the 2010 elections could be even worse for the country than what just happened.
Cheers,
Ken
