Lies – and an unintentional truth – from Obama

President Obama was in full liar mode today, writing in the Washington Post that if Congress doesn’t pass his “stimulus” bill, the US could enter an “irreversible” recession. He also repeats the lie that we are in the worst economic downturn “since the Great Depression.” He scolds Republicans (and I guess the 11 Democratic House members who voted against the plan) of promoting the “failed theory” of tax cuts.
Maybe Mr. Obama should invest some of his vaunted intellect into studying history. In this country, tax cuts have a history of not only helping the economy, but increasing revenue to the government. On the other hand, the policies he’s promoting are widely aknowledged to have prolonged the Great Depression, and the socialism he is promoting has failed to create wealth, personal, government, or otherwise, every single time it’s been tried throughout history. But then, I don’t think the President is actually interested in helping the economy, he’s really just interested in increasing Big Government’s power and control over his “subjects.”
Oh, and the truth? In an unrelated item, in signing health care bill yesterday, he admitted “The way I see it, providing coverage to 11 million children through (the children’s program) is a down payment on my commitment to cover every single American” Oh yes, “for the children.” We all need to give up our liberties “for the children.”
Cheers,
Ken
